Hanji Craft Center

The reason why hanji produced in Wonju has maintained its reputation is that the city has an optimal condition for growing mulberry trees (Broussonetia kazinoki), which is the main ingredient of hanji. Wonju has fertile soil and a plenty of sunshine, which are optimal conditions for the cultivation of mulberry trees. The Hanji Craft Museum creates and exhibits high-quality hanji craft items using hanji produced in Wonju. In addition, visitors can purchase pretty items and daily necessities made with hanji, including traditional masks and dolls. They can also participate in various activities to create simple hanji craft items.
